Hi-NRG
Hi-NRG (pronounced "high energy") is a genre of uptempo disco or electronic dance music (EDM) that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Characterized by a fast tempo, staccato hi-hat rhythms, four-on-the-floor pattern, reverberated intense vocals, and pulsating octave basslines, it became highly influential in the disco scene. The genre gained significant popularity in the LGBT club scenes of San Francisco and New York. Donna Summer's 1977 single "I Feel Love," produced by Giorgio Moroder, is often credited as the first Hi-NRG song.
